Salisbury Steak With French Fried

Salisbury Steak With French Fried

If you are stumped on dinner, Salisbury Steak with Italian Fried Onions & Tasty Sauce may be the meal-saver you need. This recipe is basically doubled & you can make additional patties for another day in case you wish.

Her recipe contains grated onion, chopped green pepper, garlic, & marjoram I didn't have any of these ingredients so I created my own recipe, using additional lean ground beef, some leftover Italian fried onions, & chili sauce. Because the Italian fried onions contained salt, I didn't add any additional to the beef mixture. I served these fancy burgers with baked potatoes as well as a salad of Boston lettuce (which is also called Butter lettuce & Bibb lettuce), Roma tomatoes, sliced avocado, & honey-mustard dressing.

hamburger recipes

one pound 93% lean ground beef

Ingredients

one slice fresh bread, crust removed, & torn in to small pieces (I used whole wheat bread.)

1/2 cup crushed Italian fried onions

Garlic pepper to taste

Wondra flour

one teaspoon olive oil

one teaspoon butter

one 1/2 cups water

two beef bullion cubes (I used ones with reduced salt.)

two tablespoons cornstarch

two tablespoons chili sauce

Process

A small icy water

Put the ground beef in a massive mixing bowl. Add the torn bread, water, onions, & garlic pepper. Gently merge & form in to, inch-thick patties. Coat the patties with Wondra flour. Put the olive oil & butter in a massive skillet. As soon as the butter melts & the skillet is hot add the patties. Cook until they are crispy brown on the underside & then flip. Cook a few more minutes until the inside is no longer pink. Transfer patties to plate. Lower the heat. Add water, beef cubes, & chili sauce. Whisk over medium heat, stirring constantly, & ensuring all the brown bits from the bottom of the pan are mixed in to the sauce. Put cornstarch in a small cup & stir in a small icy water until it is smooth & lump-free. Whisk corn starch in to skillet & cook until the sauce thickens. Return beef patties to skillet. Cover & simmer over low heat for about ten minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes, baked, potatoes, or cooked wide noodles. Makes four servings.
